The entire building is infused with a minimalist Japanese style and a total absence of superfluous decoration. In a nod to Japanese culture, the designers sourced custom-designed carpets with motives based on the Genji Monogatari picture scroll at the Gotou Museum. While this project was a revamp of an existing building, the renovation avoided producing waste material by using as much of the existing structure as possible. New building materials were applied on top of the old surfaces to create this new environment.
