The exact origin of this saying is unknown, however early references can be found in the book from the Southern Song Dynasty, a detailed documentation of local culture at the time.
While firewood may no longer be required in most kitchens, the other necessities remain as relevant today as they were in the Song Dynasty. Our aim with this project was to explore these unglamourous but essential items in the kitchen, interpret them in a multicultural design context and present them as a coherent collection of modern objects for the kitchen realized exclusively in ceramic stainless steel.
