"Am Lohsepark" is part of Hamburg’s HafenCity. Here, on a high-profile corner, ksg planned the new Holiday Inn. The powerful structure of the façade and its sculptural design that results in a three-dimensional effect make the eight-storey hotel a great contribution to its context. The façade skilfully generates its tectonics from the stacking of the hotel rooms. The bricks—bluish-red engobe on red body celebrating the housing traditions of the city—enliven the façade with a vivid play of colours and highlights. Formats and special stones called for in-depth planning to achieve the balanced picture and clear rhythm.
