The Baekyang-Sa Buddhist Temple was founded about 1,400 years ago in Korea. The Temple of Afterworld and Charnel House, one of dozens of Buddhist temple buildings in Baekyang-Sa, has been reborn as the "Spiritual Healing House" memorial space. The architect's design is based on a re-interpretation of the temple's spiritual and aesthetic qualities. Charnel house received critical acclaim for how it aesthetically bridges tradition and modernity, life and death, memorial and art. The project marks an opportunity to showcase a new architectural genre and the memorial culture of Korean Buddhism.
