Excerpt from the already published evening programmes of the Bielefeld Theatre. – By using the entire rear of the eight-page fold-out leaflet simultaneously as a poster for the play we were able to produce, after the relaunch, a four-colour programme leaflet without any advertising. Before the relaunch it was usually a black and white programme filled with advertising (due to the tight culture budget). The late costume rehearsals at the Bielefeld Theatre mean that customary stage photos usually included in evening programmes are not available; this circumstance (and the tremendous time pressure in producing the leaflets which are partly created within hours) helped to create evening programmes that frequently rely on associative images and texts. They do not only aim at providing information to the theatre-goer, but – as a component of the production – help to find an individual access to the play. In close cooperation with the literary and artistic directors as well as photographers this leads to a wide variety of programme leaflets. Each leaflet emphasises the character of the respective play, is playful itself and thus becomes part of the theatre experience, while all the leaflets together produce a homogeneous image thanks to the bonding elements.
