The IDPs School initiative provided access to quality education to 120 children of ages 3 -15 in two IDPs camps in Jalingo, Taraba state, North east Nigeria. The children were displaced from their homes due to ethnic conflict.
The project recorded success as their literary and numeracy skills improved, for most of them it was their first time in a learning environment. Apart from the learning outcomes, the project created a bond and family structure among the participants. This helped to alleviate the nostalgia of their original homes while integrating them into the host community. Education for children in conflict should be prioritized.
