'BIUM’ means ‘emptiness’ in Korean, which symbolizes and visualizes the spirit of Buddhism. I noticed the problem of 21st century that people are overloaded too much by digital environment, so I tried to make emptiness in their daily life by Wi-Fi router. For being unconnected to the digital world and clear useless stuffs in mind, this Wi-Fi router is turned off by itself periodically for a moment. And I called this situation 'Black out'. Inspired from incense, BIUM visualizes emptiness with lighting. By designing Wi-Fi router as a interior lighting, users can be given feedback on their data usage easily in daily life.
