Bildarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz (bpk), the picture library of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in Berlin, performs two tasks: It is a photo agency serving the media and it is an archive preserving images as a cultural source. bpk represents museums, libraries and other cultural institutions from all over the world and offers photographic reproductions of their collections for publishing and other commercial use.
The specialized archive contains more than 12 million images and already offers 75,000 selected images for online research and download under www.bpk-images.de. As the Web shop technology is used by about 50 photo agencies, it is well-known by commercial users.
