Lotus is the main economic crop in Baihe, Taiwan. Due to the country’s aging population and rural-urban migration, a shortage of workers has severely impacted the lotus industry. Since elderly farmers need to retrieve the lotus from the mud, they may trip and fall from losing their balance.
Moreover, they need to use two hands to separate the stem from the lotus and have to hold the seedpod at the same time.
Therefore, they may frequently drop the sickle. For this reason, the design adds a walking-aid to the toolbox for lotus pickup and simplifies the process of removing the lotus at the same time.
