Role Band / Communication Tool

Role Band
Role Band

Role Band combines the user-interface of a smartphone with the communication technology found in traditional walkie talkies. Similar to a smartphone application, field personnel can easily scroll through their workmates and choose to communicate via voice or video. However, smartphones rely on unstable cellular data which may be inadequate for certain missions. Like walkie talkies, Role Bands communicate with one another through radio signaling. Video is converted to a low-bandwidth CODEC that gets transmitted over radio signal to other Role Bands. Under this system, data can be communicated over 2 miles.
