How often do we come into contact with a switch? Do switches always have to look like switches? Which sensation causes the act of switching? And did switching in the course of the years change by technical innovation? The topic of switching brings up many questions. Switching and the myth of letting there be light has occupied cultural scientists, psychologists and philosophers, but is also and remains a central consideration of design and architecture. At the invitation of Merten, renowned designers of our time addressed this topic. The very varied results of the workshop are shown in the publication.
