decodeunicode is an independent online-platform for digital type culture and presents all characters that are accessible today on a personal computer. Since May 2005, more than 50,000 Unicode-characters have been easily accessible. Each character is rendered in three different sizes. With a wiki-function, we are collecting information about each and every character. Just try the full-text search with the word “star”!
The project was awarded six international design awards. The website is used by more than 700 visitors a day, coming from more than 100 countries, having viewed nine million pages in the first year. The project was supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
