Kumekucha: New Dawn / Trauma-informed peacebuilding

Kumekucha means it's a new dawn in Kiswahili, is a social healing program designed to promote the process of community healing and social reconciliation within Kenya's diverse landscape. Integral to Kumekucha is community-wide small group dialogues which are organized by local leaders and led by trained Community Facilitators. The Kumekucha movement is developing trauma-informed community-based structures strengthening individual and community resilience to the impact of violence. Kumekucha incorporates low-resource methods building upon cultural practices and traditions. The methodology uses local folktales, case studies, and watercolors.
