The project characterized the main causes and factors of food loss in the first mile (from the farmer to the distribution center) of three agricultural chains (mango, tomato and avocado) in Colombia. Strategies to reduce food loss were identified from the results. The strategies identified are the starting point to fulfill the objective of sustainable development 2: "Zero hunger", generating sustainable production systems to cultivate more nutritious foods, resistant to the climate change and to the Transport conditions in the distribution phase, reducing the percentage of loss and guaranteeing food security to alleviate the dangers of hunger
