Girls 4 Girls / Menstrual Health Education

Girls 4 Girls
Girls 4 Girls

Girls in Kenya can miss up to one week a month of school (up to 45 days a year) due to inadequate menstrual hygiene management (MHM). It’s a multi-dimensional problem: inadequate infrastructure; access to & affordability of sanitary products; hygiene & knowledge. When girls miss this much school it is easy to fall behind which leads to many drop outs. The Girls 4 Girls programme views the education of girls & young women as a fundamental human right. The programme began in 2010, and is now reaching 74 schools and 3,500 girls. Girls 4 Girls integrates education, health & economic empowerment initiatives to enable girls to stay in school.
