The ongoing war in Afghanistan has caused the collapse of the education system in the country. According to the UNICEF, nearly half of the children aged 7 to 17 in Afghanistan were not attending school in 2018. Countless children can be found working in the streets, and many of them do so in dangerous conditions. Because of this, Action for Development decided to open its school for Street Working Children in 2016 in Kabul. The school allows the children to conciliate work with school and currently welcomes around 200 children between the ages of 5 and 14, who learn basic literacy and numeracy skills. They are also fed and can play sports.
