Raahgiri Day, an open street event that lets citizens to reclaim their streets. It is modeled after the event ‘Ciclovia’ in Bogota. India’s first sustained car-free citizen initiative that began in Gurgaon in 2013. Cycling, walking and performing arts without allowing cars are conducted in 1-5 km blocked street. Conducted in 70 cities, 18 states with over 1.3 million attendees. The accolades include Lonely Planet rated Raahgiri Day 10 out of the 14 things to do in Gurugram, finalists at Maruti Suzuki Road Safety Awards 2014 urban mobility award by Ministry of Urban Development and winner at UL and Ashoka’s Safer Road, Safe India Challenge.
