The first ice cream parlour was opened in Ndola in 2011, aimed at offering concrete job opportunities to vulnerable young people. To date, we have in Zambia 9 ice cream parlours and 2 workshops. The project supports 100 employees (50% are former orphans and vulnerable children and 60% women), offering them a job at the ice cream parlours. It also promotes the transfer of knowledge and skills to the beneficiaries through professional trainings. The ice cream parlours have a double mission: to promote social and occupational reintegration of vulnerable people and to generate income to support the social projects implemented in Zambia by APJ23.
