The Christchurch attack sent a wave of terror through social media, as the attacker used Facebook Live to broadcast his crimes, which then saw the footage spread through various networks. The attackers' aim was to achieve a level of notoriety and to spark similar hate crimes.
This design is to counter that, by rallying people of all race or religion to show support and solidarity for the bereaved, through an tribute that transcends all language or cultural barriers, and to spread the positive message of love and unity against bigotry and senseless violence through the same social network.
The design then went viral and was widely shared.
