Refugees and asylum-seekers in Malaysia do not have the legal right to work. This pushes them into a cycle of debt and poverty and robs them of their dignity to make a living and support their families.
We ran a 6 month entrepreneurship development program aimed at creating sustainable self-employment for entrepreneurial refugees through an intensive program which equipped participants with essential business skills and practical support through mentoring and skills training workshops.
Impact
93% were self-employed and running a business by the end of the program
75% reported an increase in household income after the program
