Ecosystem restoration / Invasive species removal

Invasive plant species constitute a serious threat to native biodiversity and
ecosystem functioning in Nyungwe National Park; however, they are a potential source of
income generation and livelihood enhancement for the local poor people living around the
Park. The aim of this project is creating a win-win situation (where both the ecosystem and
local people will have equal benefits) through eradication of exotic plant species, job creation,
and timber provision to local poor people living in high risk zones around the Park.
