Sarari — “spacing and comfort” in Hausa — is a program that increases support for birth spacing amongst influential community leaders in Niger, a country with the highest fertility rate in the world at 7.2 children per woman. Through preaches, teaching at Koranic schools, religious consultations, financial planning activities, and community debates, Sarari encourages young families to evaluate the financial implications of having more children than they can afford in order to inspire responsible parenthood and family well-being.
