Grenzen / Book

Discipline: Communication

Discipline: Communication

The phenomenon “border, boundary, limit”, that is expressed in the German language in only one word (“Grenzen”), is the subject of this book.
The book describes different aspects of “Grenzen”. Not only customs frontiers or national boundaries are described, but also the limits of everyday life, limits between art and kitsch, between poverty and wealth. The reader who expects pictures that visualize exactly the text will be surprised. All different texts are confronted by photos of one particular phenomenon which is determined through “Grenzen”. The photos show “German garden colonies” (allotments) which are divided from their surroundings through plots, fences. “Grenzen” is a book that examines “frontiers, limits, boundaries” in a different way and that creates an associative level in the reader’s mind through the particular combination of text and photo.
