Participatory Budgeting / Participatory Budgeting Game

The City of Helsinki budgeted 4,4 milj. € in 2018 for citizens to address and allocate for city development. The key challenge of the project was to create a tool for communicating the participatory budgeting process and aims so that it would motivate larger number of different kinds of citizens to engage and deliver successful development ideas and reduce inequality in Helsinki. The game was designed with active citizen engagement. The Participatory Budgeting game makes participatory budgeting more approachable and understandable for multiple citizens and enables a more democratic citizen involvement in the City of Helsinki.
