The I-Plaza commercial building takes as its design starting point an assumption that shopping districts have become less attractive to young consumers, and that more must be done if developers wish to lure them to older business districts. In order to successfully attract young people to a mall environment, the designers believe that attractive external building materials and design style is essential. The I-Plaza, located at a street corner, has two main façades of rugged concrete with relatively light corten steel as the main decorating material. Smooth and rough, light and heavy material characteristics contrast to form a simple and appealing architectural expression.
