The Nigerian society is grappling with the problem of character erosion and high crime rates especially among youths. Over 80% of the prison population in Lagos, Nigeria are youths. Empirical evidence shows that incarceration is not bringing about desired attitudinal changes among prison inmates. There is the need for training to inculcate ethical and vocational skills in prison inmates to prepare them for reintegration into the society and to reduce the incidence of re-incarceration among them. Joy Bringers Foundation provides vocational and ethical training in the four prisons in Lagos and to date over 5000 inmates have been trained.
