The story is based on the first adventure travelogue dating back some 300 years ago. The travel journal “Pihai Jiyou,” more commonly known as the Small Sea Travel Diaries, tells the tale of a Chinese secretarial officer Yu Yonghe and his travels while visiting Taiwan to mine sulfur. The journal documents the customs and traditions of western Taiwan during the Kangxi era (1697). This new publication recreates the stories told in the book from the perspective of the author, depicting how Taiwan might have looked 300 years ago.
