This lakeside cottage at Nojiri-ko aims to inspire a new lifestyle integrating nature, building, objects and human beings. Five platforms transform functions such as flooring, table, shelf, view reflector and canopy to create different layers of openness, thermal conditions and perspectives. An open grid structure supports a micro renovation system according to the daylight transition, four seasons and the resident’s lifestyle. This project represents an architectural potential of “Horizontal Elements” to implant human life into the scenery of nature and transition of the time for new sustainable eco-architecture.
