“Was hab’ ich?” is aiming for a better doctor-patient-relationship. At the website https://washabich.de a huge team of voluntary working medical students and doctors translates medical documents into a readily understandable language for patients. Patients just need to upload their medical report, the translations are made within a few days – free of charge and anonymous. Since the start in 2011 the non-profit project could help more than 36.000 patients with explanations. At the same time more than 1.750 medical volunteers could be trained in patient-friendly communication – which has a lasting impact on their future patient-conversations.
