Tusafishe / Safe water for rural schools and communities

Tusafishe constructs biological filters for "left out" rural schools and communities to help them access safe water at the lowest cost possible. It does this by using locally available materials including granite rocks, clay and reusable containers. The organisation trains students in schools and women groups in rural communities to become experts in the technology to build their own portable filters in their homes and provide maintenance services.
The Filters provide 1500 and 60 liters per day for schools and homes respectively. For over ten years, safe water will cost such a school $0.9 per person! A filter costs only $600 to construct.
