KujaEcoPads / 100% biodegradable pads

Women’s usage of sanitary products is limited in Cameroon due to lack high cost of existing pads, little availability in rural areas, lack of health education, social stigma and taboos, and issues with proper disposal. KujaEcoPads estimates that rural girls miss up to 50 days of school each year due to a lack of sanitary pads while women miss work for the same reasons. To address some of these challenges, KujaEcoPads developed Cameroon’s first 100 percent biodegradable and compostable sanitary pad made from waste banana stem fiber which empowers girls in school and keep women employed, thereby improving their access to economic opportunity.
