Deicing drone



Power transmission towers sometimes collapse in cold weather, because the lines are overburdened with heavy ice. This causes huge economic losses every year. Nowadays, most of the ice-cleaning work is still carried out manually, which is very inefficient and unsafe. A deicing drone is able to take off and land on the power lines, a the pipe on the lower part of the drone can be opened, exposing a heating device and cutting tools. The ice on the wire can be easily cleaned along with the moving drone. The deicing drone not only helps to prevent the collapse of power lines, but it also replaces dangerous manual work.

The use of drones for de-icing is again a common theme. This entry is well-presented and explained.
When I saw the congratulations email, I felt so honored that my ideas and efforts could be approved by the iF DESIGN TALENT AWARD. It really means a lot for a student who loves design deeply. I will continue to design more valuable human caring works in the future.
