Farm Talk / Conservation & Education

Farm Talk

Many farmers in Zambia poached to supplement their incomes, threatening some of the largest elephant and carnivore populations in Southern Africa. If farmers can generate enough income from farming, they stop poaching as well as other environmentally destructive practices like charcoal production.

Farm Talk teaches small-scale farmers how to farm sustainably and adopt conservation methods through radio listening groups broadcasted in the local language, Nyanja. We are bringing Farm Talk to remote areas with a solar, wind-up MP3 player, radio, and recorder designed for harsh conditions for people with low levels of exposure to technology.
