InsideOut School

InsideOut is a school built in Ghana in a village where the wind destroyed the previous school.

This humanitarian non-profit project, designed by Andrea Tabocchini & Francesca Vittorini, won several awards and was constructed in 60 days, with 12 000 euro, together with the population and volunteers from 20 different countries.

Since no electricity was available it was built by hand, crafting materials available on site: walls are made of rammed earth, while a wood structure lifts the roof allowing zenithal light and natural ventilation.

The result is a sustainable and affordable design that values the local know-how and pushes its limits.
