Grange Pavilion Project / Community Design

The Grange Pavilion is a community-university partnership to redevelop a vacant Bowls Pavilion as a ‘space for all’ in Grangetown, Cardiff. ‘Community Design’ references not only a building but the design of a common ethos to gather diverse communities. The resident-led Grange Pavilion Project, Cardiff University’s Community Gateway, and Grangetown Community Action have led Ideas Picnics, Storytelling days, an annual Love Grangetown celebration, a temporary renovation and pilot café, and ongoing redevelopment proposals with IBI Group and Benham Architects, testing how the aims of design quality can support wider aims of gathering community.
