Active Teaching and Learning (ATL) focuses on the principles and practices of learner-centered pedagogy. The Belgian Development Agency (BTC) collaborated with Ugandan educational experts to create content for the local context. The content lacked structure. Using co-creation as methodology, Design without Borders transitioned into an intuitive and interactive tool for the classroom, with the teachers. The content was reorganised into: a written guide; a set of method cards; and a classroom poster. The new ATL manual is cohesive, intuitive, and easy to use. The Ministry of Education approved the ATL and it is currently in use in Uganda.
