Adjumani Design Challenge

The Adjumani Design Challenge aimed for a mind-set change for both refugees and their host communities. Host communities in Uganda are challenged with increased competition over employment opportunities, scarcity of social services and environmental degradation. To enhance peaceful coexistence and actively empower youth, UNDP together with Design without Borders implemented a design training for both refugee and host community youth who were given practical human-centered design tools for problem solving. They created successful solutions and became empowered change agents through their newfound creativity and confidence.
