tritó / Prosthetic leg (Project)


Tritó is a laser sintered below-knee prosthesis that supports walking and swimming. It enables patients to get in and out of the water with ease. The integrated ankle joint adjusts the foot position automatically. The prosthetic foot locks itself in the right swimming position when moving the leg up and down inside the water. By pressing the foot against the ground, the prosthesis reaches again its walking stance. The incisions on the dorsum of the foot support the anatomical movements in the water.
The generative processes (e.g. 3D printing) used to produce the prosthesis reduce manufacturing costs and shorten waiting time for patients.
