Tesselate is a hand splint integrated into the TENS unit that uses electrical impulses to reduce pain. Thanks to multi-material 3D printing technology, it consists of two materials; hard and flexible materials meet the patient’s anatomical and physiological requirements. Patterns control the stiffness. Hard patterns keep the wrist and fingers steady, while the flexible surface provides ease of use. It can be created from a specific patient’s imaging data and personalized with various color options. The TENS device can be controlled using a simple phone app. The electrodes connected to the TENS device can be removed if desired.

This design reflects a futuristic solution to a concrete problem. The designer has used the rapid prototyping technique to come up with an aesthetic, functional idea.
