HDR-FX1

Digital high-definition (HD) video camcorder

SONY Corporation

The HDR-FX1 is the world's first consumer HDV 1080i compatible digital high-definition video camcorder, supporting high-definition video recording and playback on DV cassette tapes. To characterize the unique traits, the designer introduced a fresh architectural look, styled around the large lens, with an ergonomic viewfinder as well as a 3.5-inch-wide LCD monitor. The HDR-FX1 was designed for a more stable filming position by separating the electric viewfinder from the main unit of the camera and repositioning it behind the handle. The LCD monitor has been moved to the tip of the handle lever, enabling the user to view what is being filmed through both the EVF and the LCD simultaneously. The designer has successfully united the elements that Sony has consistently cultivated in its production of professional broadcasting equipment, while making ease of use a top priority.
