Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Calendar 2005

Calendar

DaimlerChrysler AG Marketing Communications Passenger Cars – MKP / B

An extraordinary calendar presenting the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren on the historical route of the 1955 Targa Florio. In 2005, one of the biggest triumphs in Mercedes-Benz racing history will celebrate its 50th anniversary. By virtue of their spectacular victory in the 1955 Targa Florio, the last race of the season, Stirling Moss and Peter Collins secured the constructor’s world championship for Mercedes-Benz. In commemoration of this great success story, the SLR is retracing the steps of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR in the Sicilian mountains, on one of the most difficult and winding routes that had to be faced in a road race, the Targa Florio. The contrast between modernity, technology and dynamism and the pristine beauty of the barren south Italian landscape adds extra charm to an automotive journey that symbolizes the union of the traditional and the future. Twelve locations along the historical route were selected as motifs for the calendar. The intriguing black-and-white photographs were exposed using a special film in order to achieve the highest possible levels of focus and brilliance. The photos were processed and produced using the most intricate of techniques.
