The Anemone Tea Infuser was designed during my second year of studies at the University of Johannesburg. A sea anemone shell, commonly found on the beaches of Southern Africa, inspired the design for this tea infuser. I wanted to draw attention to the tea making ritual or the ‘tea making ceremony’ as it is called in many Asian cultures. Thus the tongs prolong the tea making process to remind one to be mindful of this ritual. A high gloss, white ceramic was chosen for the bowl of the infuser, as this echo’s the minimalistic Scandinavian design, further emphasising the 'global we'.
