CRAFT DESIGN PROGRAMME / bamboo craft development

CRAFT DESIGN PROGRAMME
CRAFT DESIGN PROGRAMME

The designs by e’thaan ‘s principal designer and owner, Ritu Varuni, have been handcrafted by 14 selected bamboo and wood artisans from all over Nagaland under a 2 month design workshop project for skill upgradation, conducted in Nagaland, India and supported by the Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, Dimapur. The design development derived from the strong bamboo and wood craft Naga tradition looks at a new language that uses wood carving as an accent for bamboo-cane basketry and bamboo based products. New yet retaining a distinct Naga cultural identity is the theme of these 20 designs which comprise unique and contemporary products.
