The manipulated exhaust readings and defeat device debacle have posed a serious communication challenge at Volkswagen. The 2015 annual report responds to this: the exhaust issue has been given its own part in the financial section, and the magazine opens into an interview on trust with the new CEO, Matthias Müller. The report and magazine have still remained true to the approach taken in 2013, as Volkswagen needs to communicate its commitment to the facing the future now more than ever. The general theme centers on people after ideas and progress, with "move people" as the guiding principle.
