modi / workspace

The furniture of young urban residents needs to be compact and multifunctional, since small living spaces are increasingly the only affordable option. Modi is a workspace that has the potential to meet a vast variety of user needs, and it fits comfortably in the corner of of any living space. It’s beautiful, small, and highly functional. During the initial design phase, I researched small apartment floor plans in Seattle and talked to residents about their space constraints. I also researched human factors, such as average sitting height. After sketching and building small models, I built Modi from scratch out of boards of rough-sawn mahogany
