Food Data is a project on the topic of data tracking in everyday life. Minimalistic crumb-compositions that emerge on plates while eating every day, are analyzed by a self written computer application and transformed to generative artworks. The graphics are engraved into raw ceramic plates with a laser cutter, which are glazed and fired in a ceramics kiln afterwards.
Food Data elevates an everyday occurrence to the realms of art, while pushing usual methods of data tracking into the absurd. The final plates remind of technological advancement and practices of (self-)surveillance, that doesn‘t even stop before the private ritual of eating.
