This is a ramp rail design for wheelchair users to prevent sliding down when moving upwards and slowing down when going downwards by breaking the ramp into small horizontal platforms.
The rail is composed of several steps with hydraulic spring mechanism. When the wheelchair user is moving upwards, the weight of the wheelchair tilts the steps down to form a platform and the steps tilt back automatically with its own weight. When going downwards, the hydraulic spring can slowly tilt the steps to provide adequate support. Therefore the wheelchair user can move up and down the ramp independently even slippery.
