A speculative thesis project examining a different approach to healthcare in a hospital in Limerick Ireland. Hospitals cater to the most vulnerable in society but are their design actually hindering healing and recovery? Modern health care mainly focuses on the treatment of disease rather than on the individual person and the physiological and physical act of healing. My project addresses possible architectural solutions to promote a more holistic and human centred approach to healthcare and healing by exploring tactile architecture. I received a first class honour for the project and I was awarded best architecture thesis.
