This project was based in Limehouse, Commercial Road. The brief project was to create two programmes running side by side: a community hub and a place for making, buying and selling. My idea was to have a Honey Factory in East London, an urban beekeepers to produce honey, mead and sell them. The idea came form the history of the area, when Limehouse used to be a significant port: back in time a common provision on vessel was mead. I focused my research on the importance of honey bees; they pollinate a third of everything we eat and play a vital role in sustaining the planet’s ecosystems and nowadays bees are in danger of disappearing.
