This Trash-Couture Collection is about the traditional costume of Schaumburg (Northern Germany)
As international Team, Jing from China, Robin from Germany we researched why the costume died.
By questioning tradition, village living and genderissues this collection was developed. The decadence and the extreme silhouette of the costume was deconstructed, x-rayed and blown up and pushed it to its extremes. We used traditional couture techniques and mixed them with digital methods. Embroidery clashes with computer-woven trimmings. Wood and Plexiglass. Silk against Plastic. Heritage meets modern technology. Is tradition trash or luxury? You decide
